This year we've decided to try cooking one meal each week from a different country without repeating any of them. Any meal of the day is fine. I think we're going to do a breakfast next week. Our first week's dish was Moroccan stew. Morocco is a country in northern Africa. Our mom wishes she lived in a Moroccan riad like the one in the link-that's what they call their houses that are built around a courtyard- and makes us look at pictures of them a lot on her computer.
The recipe sounded good, but we didn't really like it because it was too mushy. Here's a picture of it.
It did smell really good though while it was cooking.
We printed out a
map and are coloring in each country after we've tried the dish. We think it would be really fun if other families joined us in this activity this year. It would be fun to see what some other people have tried and would be really good if others could share yummy recipes from that country.
There is a flickr photo album where you can post your pictures of what you cooked and then write to us and tell us what the recipe is or give us the link to it. And of course tell us whether or not it tasted good and if you would make it again.
