We drove out to the county to visit a well known potter. It was really great getting out of the city for a bit and into the villages, which are in my humble opinion some of the most fabulous places on earth. This is where I find everything I love about this country. No crowds, no neon and no Pachinko parlors. Here is where the much needed exhale can happen in a country that can get pretty intense.
Then quite possibly the most exciting thing yet for the girls is that they spotted Totoro sitting on a bench! Our Neighbor Totoro is the girls' favorite movie- of course they've only seen about 3 total at this point in their lives but this is one of them. They thought it was really him. I suppose this is what Disneyland is like for many kids when they see Mickey for the first time. The first time the girls saw Mickey was at Disneyland so there was no great excitement over it. They had no idea who it was. But Totoro!
There was a tad of disappointment when they realized he was not real but then they immediately started justifying that he probably was real he just turned into a statue when people were looking...
a very good day!
They've definitely turned Japanese with their little peace signs for photos!
